To reward the participants in the defeat of the Japanese Kwantung Army in August - September 1945, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 30, 1945, the medal "For the Victory over Japan" was established. the right profile of J.S. Stalin is depicted on the medal, surrounded by the inscription “FOR VICTORY OVER JAPAN” (left and top).
The medal "For the victory over Japan" is made of brass and has the shape of a regular circle with a diameter of 32 mm.
The Medal "For the Victory over Japan" is awarded to:
all military personnel and civilian personnel of units and formations of the Red Army, the Navy and the NKVD troops who took a direct part in the hostilities against the Japanese imperialists as part of the troops of the 1st Far Eastern, 2nd Far Eastern and Transbaikal fronts, the Pacific Fleet and the Amur river flotilla;
military personnel of the central departments of the NPO, the NKVMF and the NKVD, who took part in supporting the combat operations of the Soviet troops in Dalna
The medal "For the Victory over Japan" is worn on the left side of the chest and, in the presence of other medals of the USSR, is located after the anniversary medal "Forty Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945."
Persons awarded the medal "For the Victory over Japan" subsequently had the right to be awarded commemorative medals in memory of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
