Group of two Soviet Russian USSR Orders of the Red Star, 800-950 thousand serial number range,
both awarded in 1944
to
Colonel Konstantin Vlasovich Sorokin of the Naval Veterinary Service
.
Overall, a curious group.
Sorokin earned his first Red Star by a
Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet (a notable distinction)
for his effective, high-level veterinary work in the Soviet Navy’s central veterinary department.
The Citation calls attention to Sorokin’s extensive military service as a combat veterinarian during the Russian Civil War. He fought against Denikin, Wrangel, Petlyura, and was wounded in fighting with Makhno!!!
Sorokin’s second Red Star was awarded for 15 years of service, excluding his period in the reserves after the Civil War, when he obtained higher education. There is a Citation for this Red Star with a service record.
Later, Sorokin earned an additional Order of the Red Banner and Order of Lenin for long service. A citation for the Order of the Red Banner is available and includes a service record.
Condition is as seen in the images!
Serial numbers of the awards match the serial numbers in the archival documents, obviously. Winner will be provided with full archival research (21 pages including Award Record Card, citations for the Red Stars, and awarding decrees) in electronic format, unredacted, in color,
