    American sterling silver hand made and hammered small bowl formed as a flower, with paneled sides and an everted rim by JOEL F. HEWES, TITUSVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA, CIRCA 1940. The matching under plate has seven panels and an inverted rim. The two pieces make a nice set and both are marked under the base: Joel F. Hewes Sterling Handmade. One of the bowls is inscribed, in period script under the base: To Gretre from Evic. Weighing a substantial for its size 126 grams or 4.1 ozs. Troy, this special bowl is 4 1/4" in diameter and 1" tall. The matching under plate is 4 1/2" in diameter and weighs 110 grams or 3.5 ozs. Troy. The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
