SIMPLY MAGNIFICENT:
AUTHENTIC AUSTRO HUNGARIAN
HONVED  OFFICER SWAGGER STICK IN FORM
OF A TRADITIONAL HUNGARIAN BATTLE AXE
Steel axe head adorned with brass and bronze rivets. Letter "H" on top. Points of the axe head adorned with bronze acorns. Blade inlayed with the name of the owner ((?)) "KOLLMANN" and with a number "19ii", perhaps a date. Axe haft made from a steel rod, all covered up with rings (just a tiny one missing) made from what it looks to be some kind of animal horn.
This is probably not an official issue item. Rather a personal piece. The previous owner said it was his grand grand father, who was a honved officer. It somehow convinced me as there is a similar item in the hungarian tradition, a walking stick/ shepherd axe called fokos. "H" on top of the axe would probably stay for Honved. There was even a general with the surname Kollmann in the Honved.
The axe is quite big. The total lenght is 93 cm or app. 36 and 1/2 inch the head is 18 cm wide including the hammer part or 7 inches. The blade is 9 cm or 3 1/2 inch from acorn to acorn.
